2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS Brings the V-8 Thunder Engine
-The beast can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds because of to its powerful V-8 engine, delivering 493 horsepower.

Tested: 2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS Brings the V-8 Thunder Engine
James Lipman|Car and Driver

About half an hour after getting into the 2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS, my wife asks herself, “Does this car make you want to drive faster?” (Oh, no. It is here.) However, she goes on: “Because would. Just listen to that exhaust, please. (What, wait?) Yes, occasionally notice that am moving far more quickly than had planned when glance down at the speedo. However, is that exhaust sound little excessive in your opinion? “No, not at all,” she answers. “It has nice growl.”

SOUND ON - 2025 Porsche Cayenne

She’s absolutely right, 2025 Porsche Cayenne the new Cayenne GTS growls with authority. That deep rumble begins the moment you fire it up, and it really unleashes thunder when you bury the accelerator. Unlike the last GTS we drove, the 2021 Coupe, it didn’t require the optional tuned exhaust from that model. No worries, though: Porsche has made that aggressive, rorty exhaust standard on the 2025 GTS, which partly explains the uptick in base price.

-2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS Brings the V-8 Thunder Engine

2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS
PORSCHE

Floor the throttle and it now roars at 86 dB, up from the 82 dB produced by the tuned system in 2021. Yet at a steady 70 mph, it calms down to a refined 66 dB, just like before.

That louder roar under full throttle likely stems from the upgraded V-8. Now boasting 493 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque—gains of 40 hp and 29 lb-ft over the previous GTS, it benefits from several enhancements:

a higher-pressure fuel-injection system of 2025 Porsche Cayenne ; electronically controlled wastegates for sharper throttle response; mono-scroll turbos that better withstand high exhaust heat; and a variable‑lift intake cam that boosts high-RPM performance without sacrificing mid-range efficiency.

As a result, 2025 Porsche Cayenne highway fuel economy has improved by about 3 mpg, now rated at 22 mpg. While some of these upgrades are shared with the new V-8 Cayennes , Porsche has tuned the GTS to run with increased boost. Plus, Porsche has sharpened the gear-shifts in Sport and Sport Plus modes for even more immediate performance.

ACT FASTER

Thanks to these upgrades of 2025 Porsche Cayenne, acceleration has genuinely improved. The 2025 GTS sprints to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, reaches 100 mph in 9.2 seconds, and covers the quarter-mile in 12.1 seconds at 112 mph.

That eclipses the performance of the 2021 Cayenne GTS Coupe, which recorded 3.9 seconds to 60 mph, 10.2 seconds to 100 mph, and a 12.5-second quarter-mile at 110 mph  All this comes even though the new GTS is heavier—5,145 lb versus the Coupe’s 5,014 lb.

-2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS Brings the V-8 Thunder Engine

HIGHS: V-8 thunder, composed ride, grippy handling and braking

It doesn’t end there. All new 2025 Porsche Cayenne roll on larger 31-inch tires—up from 30 inches before. That extra inch hardly seems like much, but the beefier rubber helps smooth out cracks that the previous model would have rattled over. Even in Sport mode, the GTS rides smoother than expected.

Much of the credit goes to the switch to two-valve adaptive dampers—separately tuning compression and rebound—and two-chamber air springs, which lower the ride height by about 0.4 inches (10 mm) compared to other Cayennes with air suspension (2025 Porsche Cayenne)

Our test car also featured Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control of 2025 Porsche Cayenne with active anti-roll bars and rear-axle steering—options priced around $3,580 and $1,280 respectively. These systems combine for sharper handling, better body control, and enhanced ride quality of 2025 Porsche Cayenne.

-2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS Brings the V-8 Thunder Engine

2025 Porsche Cayenne GTS
James Lipman|Car and Driver

The 2025 Cayenne GTS rides on Pirelli P Zero Corsa PZC4 tires (285/40 ZR 22 front and 315/35 ZR 22 rear) wrapped around 22‑inch wheels—up from the previous generation’s 21‑inch setup Additionally, the front end benefits from an extra 0.58° of negative camber—thanks to upper pivot bearings borrowed from the Turbo GT—resulting in sharper turn‑in and enhanced steering precision

The result: a chassis of 2025 Porsche Cayenne that feels direct and controlled without venturing into twitchy territory. Through corners, it tracks balanced and holds its line with confidence. On the skidpad, lateral grip improves slightly—recording about 1.01 g versus the previous model’s 1.00 g—even though this GTS weighs around 131 pounds more.

Origins: Hyundai’s Luxury Vision

Who makes Genesis Cars? Hyundai first debuted the Hyundai Genesis sedan between 2003 and 2007intending to compete with more established luxury  rivals.

This model functioned as testbed, establishing the framework for what would become Genesis as an independent brand.

Hyundai established Genesis Motor as a luxury business on November 4, 2015, in a strategic move to compete with premium automakers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Lexus.

Who makes Genesis Cars?

Hyundai Motor Company is a multinational automotive manufacturer that was created in 1967 and is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It is part of the Hyundai Motor Group, which also includes Kia and Genesis.

Hyundai also owns Hyundai Mobis, a significant supplier that provides critical parts and components to the whole business, including Genesis automobiles.

Manufacturing: Where Genesis Cars Are Built

Genesis vehicles are primarily produced:

  • At the Ulsan Plant in South Korea, Hyundai’s flagship factory where models G80,  G90, and GV80 are built.
  • Hyundai’s Alabama facility in the United States, primarily for the electrified GV70, catering to North American demand.

Who makes Genesis Cars?

Genesis Cars design is globally influenced, with studios in Rüsselsheim (Germany), Namyang (South Korea), and Irvine (California).

Their unique style, Athletic Elegance, includes characteristic two-line quad lighting, crest grille, and interior minimalism known as the “Beauty of White Space.

With vehicles like the GMR-001 hypercar, Genesis  cars started performance efforts like Genesis Magma Racing in 2024–2025. The company also unveiled new all-electric models, such as the GV60 and GV70 Electrified, which were developed on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform.

The Value of Genesis Cars

  • Luxury with Korean engineering: Presenting excellent comfort, performance, and design at affordable prices.
  • Award-winning credentials: Include design distinctions, IIHS safety ratings, and consistent high scores in long-term dependability (J.D. Power).
  • Leadership of Electrifications: Award-winning credentials include design distinctions, IIHS safety ratings, and consistent high scores in long-term dependability (J.D. Power).

How’s the GV80’s interior?

The GV80‘s interior has been hit-or-miss. We appreciate the high-quality materials and enough legroom in the front two seats, but we are less thrilled by the tighter-than-expected headroom.

We also considered the present infotainment system to be unintuitive and difficult to use when on the road. Genesis Cars has replaced it with a new 27-inch OLED screen, which we think has a better menu system.

The optional third row is simpler to access than in some rival luxury SUVs, but once there, it is fairly cramped. It is OK for children, but adults should avoid spending too much time at the back.

How is the Genesis GV80’s technology?

Every GV80 comes with long variety of modern driver aids, which we found to be unobtrusive during our testing.

We are especially impressed by Genesis’ adaptive cruise control with the Highway Driving Assist II feature, which allows for some hands-free driving when conditions allow.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but Genesis has yet to include wireless capability, which is becoming increasingly common in rival vehicles.

Introduction-Powerful Ford F-150 Lobo 2025

  • Similar to the original SVT Lightning, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lobo is a street truck with a focus on performance.
  • The Lobo treatment comes with a 400hpV8, a body package, a special grille with lights, a lowered ride, and special 22-inch wheels.
  • According to Ford, the F150 Lobo will go on sale this fall and has a starting price of $59,995.

From the Raptor to the Tremor, Ford’s full-size pickup truck comes in a variety of off-road-ready models. But up until now, the F-150 has not had a model that puts street performance first. Presenting the Ford F-150 Lobo for 2025. It is basically the SVT Lightning’s spiritual descendant from the 1990s.

Life in LOBO

Since then, Ford has referred to its electric pickup, which produces up to 580 hp but lacks the characteristics that make street truck unique, as the Lightning.
These distinguishing characteristics, according to Josh BlundoFord’s lead external designer for the F150 and Maverick Lobosinclude aggressive styling, reduced ride height, and, in the case of the F-150, V-8 anddual exhausts.

FORD

That’s why every F-150 Lobo includes a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 that makes 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard (sorry, rear-drive fans), and it has an upgraded automatic two-speed transfer case. The Lobo isn’t just a show truck, either. It can handle a payload of up to 1450 pounds, and it’s rated to pull a trailer that weighs as much as 7900 pounds.

Sure, you can get the same V-8 on other F-150 models, but only the Lobo looks this distinctive. Blundo says a revised suspension dropped the rear end by two inches, and the ride height looks even lower with the addition of a 10-piece body kit.
